The Caprice Project

MG Designs has spent the last two months planning a large-scale renovation in one of our favorite neighborhoods. Rather than tearing down a classic central Austin home, the Caprice Remodel will give life to a worn-out ranch house from the early 60s. Classic updates are planned that stay true to the original style of the house but also give it that fresh, modern take.

The first step in a remodel? Hire an architect. This is invaluable. Our architect provided layout options that utilized space in a way we hadn’t thought of and took into account code standards for structural engineering, electrical and plumbing while meeting our design expectations.

The new exterior elevations include the addition of a gabled roof; adding interesting dimension to the front of the home while providing necessary height changes on the interior. A set of corner windows will brighten up the kitchen and a new black steel and glass front door is on order.  A  stained horizontal wood plank siding will wrap around the front porch and flow into the interior entry wall, helping to connect the exterior into the home. We are so excited for the planned changes to come to life. Follow along on our Instagram feed for progress updates.
